Here are some more facts about Ecuador. There are approximately 13 million inhabitents living in Ecuador. 95% of them are Catholics. The currency is US-Dollar. The government has produced a series of local coins of 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 cents that have the same value as the American coins. Banks open from 9am to 5pm and on Saturdays only half day. Taxi rates are approximately 3 to 4 dollars per ride from the airport to the city. The common language is Spanish. Most o fthe indigenous population speaks Quichua. In many schools English is taught as the second language. There aer 18 different languages among Ecuadorian communities.
